november rain: heavyduty boots

There’s nothing I hate more than cold and wet feet. On an it’s-raining-it’s-pouring type of day, you need to be able to count on your boots to keep you dry. I was pretty disappointed when my last pair started to leak. I might take them to a cobbler to see if there’s any way to save them. No matter what, I’m determined to find cute boots that will last for years. Here are a few pairs that look like they could withstand the tests of rain and time.

It’s so satisfying to encounter an unavoidable puddle while wearing galoshes. These tall boots were made for a storm. My favorites are the Burberry pair at the bottom left. Of course they’re the most expensive at $275. I’m into the idea of laces but I saw someone wearing the Chooka boots (top right) today and they weren’t as cute in person. I think a shorter pair with laces might be more my style.

Right now the Bean Boots (top middle) are at the top of my list. They’re definitely more casual, but a classic that surely won’t leak. I’d love to wear them with skinny jeans, leggings, or a skirt and tights with tall, scrunched-down, oatmeal-colored socks. The bag I’m toting around this season is quite big so I’d just bring along a pair of heels for the office.
