musthave monday: gelish

I got my first gel manicure over the weekend and I love it so far. No drying time, no chips, no streaks, and supposedly lasts for 2 weeks. It's generally more expensive than a regular manicure. I was lucky to get a deal at Dun Up Boutique's Valentine's Day party yesterday by Mia of Superfly Nails. The color options are fairly limited now but as this trend grows more popular I'm sure we'll be seeing a bigger selection.

  1. yay! will be curious to see how long you last with that bright color. also, note: at my nail place, it's only $7 to have them removed but they do an absolute hack job. I bought a big thing of acetone and some orange sticks and removed them myself last time to much better effect.

  2. I didn't realize they charged to remove! Good to know. I'll give you a nail status update in a couple of weeks.

  3. I just had my first gel mani/pedi too! Unfortunately, the manicurist didn't do the best job, but the polish is lasting really well so far (had them done on Thursday and they still look good). I don't know if I would go back to the same manicurist/salon, but I would definitely get a gel manicure again.

  4. I've seen so many bloggers raving about gel manicures... I think I need to get one STAT. Love the classic red you chose.

  6. I'm a total covert to gel polish - it looks perfect until you peel it off! I found a place in Seattle that does it for $25, which isn't bad, so keep looking!

  7. Hi Elisabeth! It's Mia, AKA Superflynails, the girl who did your Gelish manicure on Sunday at Dun Up Boutique. I'm glad you liked it. How's it holding up? Glad to redo it for you in 2 wks if you'd like.

  8. Hey Mia! They're holding up great so far. I'd love for you to redo them in a couple weeks. How can I get in touch with you? Maybe we could also plan something with a few of my friends.
