sweater shaving

I always thought sweater shavers were such a great idea. Well actually sweaters that don't pill are a great idea, but we can't have everything. I bought this cashmere Vince cardigan at the TJ Maxx in Miami last year, thinking it was a great deal from a quality label. Until the pilling started. I didn't wear it for months because the fur balls were so bad. Then I found a sweater shaver at Walgreens. I went to town on the cardi and had to empty the fur ball receptacle 3 times. I was just finishing up when I realized I had shaved through the sweater in several places.  Luckily I'm decent with a needle and thread, but now I know to proceed with caution when handling my sweater shaver.

  1. Oh yes, I have the sweater shaver and know that trick well! Actually one of the reviews I read on the Gap sweater we both have is that the pilling was bad and so bad that even a few people returned it. I have used the shaver in a few spots, but nothing terrible. It's bearable for me and I love it!

  2. Once again Elisabeth you save the day for me. I've come THIS close to getting a shaver I don't know how many times, but have been too afraid to try it. When I get the confidence, I'll have to be extra careful too!

I think I need a cardigan this beautiful shade of blue!

  3. I have to get a shaver. The yellow sweater in my remix leaves a trail everywhere I go. If I ever get it together enough to actually get one, I will proceed with caution indeed.

  6. Get a shaver but be sure not to press too firmly. Unless you're going for shabby chic, of course.

  7. I haven't had to use the shaver on the Gap sweater yet but I see it in my near future.
