packing tips for gals on the go

On Saturday I'm taking off on a whirlwind, week-long trip to Spain and DC for 2 weddings. So of course I've been thinking about what to pack for the last couple of days (ok, last couple of weeks). Whenever I travel, I look back at a post from last year where I asked Micki Turner for advice on how to pack light. If you're planning a vacation this summer, definitely check out the post for Micki's great suggestions. I've also found some helpful tips from these bloggers:

The Fashionista Lab: 3 part series on traveling light
Life Love Lace: Style on vacation
The Coastal Chicster: A guest post on Law Mama jam-packed with packing do's and don'ts.

Do you have any good packing tips? I'm bringing a tiny carry-on so I need all the help I can get!

  1.  I have an underwear pouch that says clean on one side and dirty on the other.  Keeps your delicates together and separated from the other laundry

  5. Thanks for the mention! I love the Packing Cubes from eBags...keeps everything neat in my suitcase, and prevents everything from falling out if my bag gets searched. =) I'll tweet you a link to them if you want to check them out!

  7. I was just going to post some new packing tips on my facebook page.  Basically, keep it simple and start with the shoes.  Cropped pants are great because they can be worn with heels, flats or sneakers.  Try and get by with one jacket, two at most.  Make sure most pieces can do double duty; worn dressy or casual, layered in various ways.  TAKE THINGS YOU LOVE AND FEEL GOOD IN.

  9. When I went to Europe in 09 I only took a carry on too, for three weeks and two different types of weather. It was hard, I wore my warmest and bulkiest things on the plane. But everything I packed was only of three colors - black, gray, and green. Even my shoes. That way everything coordinated together no matter how I wore it.
