Philanthropist

Last week Molly and I went to Philanthropist on Sacramento Street to look for a dress for her to wear to the Italian wedding. It's a big, beautiful store with a great selection of designer clothing from labels like Zac Posen, Stella McCartney, Tucker, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, and 3.1 Phillip Lim. The best thing about Philanthropist is that 100% of the profits go to Bay Area charities combatting poverty. You might ask yourself, "how is that possible?" but I say don't ask, just do it. Though we didn't find the perfect ensemble for Molly, they did have a lot of gorgeous dresses (not to mention a well-stocked sale rack) and I will certainly be returning next time I need something for a special occasion.

  7. There's an upscale shoe boutique in Palo Alto that also donates 100% of profits to charities - women's charities. I guess the woman who runs it doesn't need to make money from her store. It's called In Her Shoes, if you ever find yourself down the peninsula :)
